Paving installation in Glasgow
See what is involved in laying your new driveway or patio.
- A firm base beneath your paving
- Rainwater directed away from the house
- Know what your quote includes

What should your paving quote include?
Your quote should say which slabs or blocks will be used and how much space they will cover. It should list the work included, such as removing old paving, taking away waste and preparing the base. Borders, drains and filling the gaps should be listed too. Any steps or walls should have their own prices.

Prepare a firm base for the paving
The old surface is removed where needed and the ground is dug out for the new paving. A firm base is built to support the slabs or blocks above it. The depth depends on the ground, the paving and whether cars will use it.

Lay the paving and finish the edges
The paving must meet doors, paths and steps at the right height, with a slope that lets rainwater drain away. Once the slabs or blocks are laid, the edges are finished and the gaps filled. Your installer should explain when you can use the surface and how to clean it.

Paving installation questions

Can I still get to my front door?
Agree a safe way to reach your door and somewhere to park before the work starts. A narrow entrance may also affect how materials and equipment reach the garden or drive.
How long will the paving take?
The size of the area, the old surface, access and weather all affect how long the job takes. Your installer can give you a timescale after looking at the work needed.
